On the 27th of February 2012 in school №147 there have passed an ecological hours on a theme «Botanic gardens of the world. Samara botanic garden». On a visit to the school students came the experts of the Samara Botanic garden.
The first lesson was spent by the Head of the flower department from Samara Botanic garden - Maria Soboleva. She spoke about the history of the garden, its departments and international cooperation. Students were asked Maria Soboleva many questions about the origin of plant names.
On the second lesson, Head of the Department of Dendrology Tatiana Zhavkina gave a presentation about the Department of Dendrology and told the school children about the kinds of trees growing in the Botanical Garden.
The third lesson has led the research assistant of a garden – Ekaterina Kudriyashova. She explicitly has told about development and care of the tropical and subtropical plants, growing in the Botanic Garden.
On the fourth lesson Irina Ruzaeva, Head of Flora Department of Botanic Garden, introduced school students the history of botanical gardens, its activities, described the introduction of plants. Pupils listened with great interest, and at the end of lesson, peppered Irina Ruzaeva with questions, forgetting about the change.
School coordinator of the project "Green City" Galina Shishkina has thanked experts for interesting lessons and has received as a gift from Irina Ruzaeva the book about the Samara Botanic garden. In it school students have seen Galina Shishkina and the schoolmates as volunteers of a botanical garden.
Seminars at school № 147 were led in the framework of the «Green city» program, supported by the Alcoa Foundation.
